Historical Uses:
The use of Hawthorn dates back to Dioscorides, but the plant gained immense popularity in European and American herbal medicine only towards the end of the 19th century.1 It has been employed in the treatment of high blood pressure, atherosclerosis, angina pectoris, tachycardia (rapid pulse), arrhythmia (irregular pulse), excitability and insomnia.1

Contraindications:
Avoid in cases of low blood pressure (hypotension). Medical advice should be sought before taking.

Adverse reactions:
Avoid excessive use.

Dosage:
10 to 25 drops three times per day.
