Historical Uses:
Bistort is extremely astringent. It is used on wounds to stop hemorrhage. As a mouth wash and gargarism, it stenghtens the gums and heals mouth ulcers, also good for score throat.

By application, it desinfects light burns and wounds, as a vaginal douche it reduces whitish. Can also be applied on hemorrhoid and rectal fistulas. Internaly, Bistort treats stomach ulcers, colon inflammation, dysentery and gastro-intestinalproblems that provoques diarrhea. It is also prescribe for urinary problems, such as cystitis and respiratory infections.

Its vertues has been recognized since the renaissance period, before the discovery of antibiotics. Bistort was used as a tonic in prevention and treatments of tuberculosis. It was a cought remedy of the good old days because of it's expectorant properties. Applied directly on the throat, the lungs and on back three to four times a day. Wear a white towel on the chest and the back then put on a turtle neck shirt made out of natural fibers to help the Bistort, by keeping the body heat to decongest.

Adverse reactions:
Avoid using over prolonged periods (no more than four weeks at a time)

Dosage:
10 to 40 drops or more three times a day. Externaly, apply if needed to the affected area . To maximized the effect, apply with cajeput oil.
