Historical Uses:
Rupturewort has long been used in traditional medicine to treat urinary tract disorders, fluid accumulation around the heart and hernias (ruptures), hence its scientific name.1 It has been employed in the treatment of urinary tract (cystitis), kidney and gall bladder inflammations.1,2 It is also said to be useful in the prevention and elimination of kidney and bladder stones and to strengthen muscle tissues.1,3

Contraindications:
None.

Adverse reactions:
None.

Dosage:
40 to 80 drops following meals. As a preventive, 40 drops per day. Externally, apply as a poultice on the rupture. Use with a good bowel management program.
