Historical Uses:
Purple Loosestrife can be found near ponds, lakes, rivers and other humid areas. Traditional medicine has used it to treat dysentery, internal hemorrhages, nose bleeds and stomach pains.1 Externally, it has been used as a douche to treat vaginitis.1 It is said to have a tonic effect on the bowels, colon, gall bladder, liver and kidneys.2 It has been used as an eye-wash to improve vision and relieve certain eye affections.2

Contraindications:
None.

Adverse reactions:
None.

Dosage:
40 drops three times per day. Externally (douche): 20 to 40 drops in � cup of water. Externally (eye-wash): wash eyes with 20 drops in � cup of distilled water for 5 minutes two to three times per day.
