Historical Uses:
It is said that the Aztecs were among the first to used Damiana as an aphrodisiac.1 Hence, the plant is still used today to stimulate sexual desire. Damiana has been used in cases of impotency in men and frigidity in women. Damiana has also been used in the treatment of nervous tension and depression and is regarded as a useful general tonic.2 Other uses include urinary tract inflammation, cystitis, bed-wetting, urinary calculi and diabetes.2

Contraindications:
Damiana should be used with precaution in cases of severe urinary tract disease.

Adverse reactions:
None.

Dosage:
5 to 10 drops to 1tablespoon three times per day until changes occur. It may take as long as 10 days before changes are felt.
