Dossier santé

In May, life begins again. Finally, our hibernation is over and we can start living again. We want to look and feel our best. We modify our diet and exercise patterns or simply start doing what we enjoy the most.

This month, however, may mean the beginning of hell for some women; particularly those going through menopause. This period marked by physical and psychological changes is due to a decrease in oestrogen secretion.

The ovarian follicles stop producing ova and oestrogen secretion diminishes. There is increased secretion of gonaclostimulines, hormones secreted by the pituitary gland and androgens (males hormones) in the blood.

Unfortunately, for most women, the beginning of menopause is accompanied by symptoms of hot flashes, night sweats and vaginal dryness (due to thinning of the vaginal lining and a drop in oestrogen). Skin thins during this menopause and sebum secretion (natural skin oil) reduces, causing dryness of the skin. Memory loss, anxiety and lack of sexual interest are also noted in this period. Bone mass rapidly decreases as calcium is lost. Osteoporosis is prevalent. Rises in blood pressure and blood lipids (fats) may lead to increased risk of arteriosclerosis.

To improve the quality if life of women in menopause, I suggest to use H.B.-W(#785) which re-establishes hormonal balance and nourishes the glandular system . To prevent a lack of calcium and silicon, I recommend CA-W(#732). Ensure that the parathyroid glands are functioning well since they control blood and tissue calcium and phosphorus levels by using T-W(#872).

Finally, take special care of your nutrition. As you know, health begins in the plate. Be careful with all refined sugars and sugar substitutes. Watch your intake of saturated fats and cholesterol. Privilege monounsaturated fats such as olive oil or canola oil. Eat green vegetables and fruits, particularly apples. Remember to exercise.

In conclusion, choose foods which meet your body daily needs, particularly during menopause. By doing so, you will be able to live a long and healthy life.
